Kyle insisted on hanging out for the after party to burn off those delicious cupcakes with Audrey. They definitely kept each other entertained that evening.
The next morning they were still roaring ready to go play. Our lovely dining room furniture, the play house, kept them busy for quite a while.
Kyle kept eyeballing the fingerpaints, and couldn't resist...so we all joined in. Uncle Nathan was trying to help Kyle spread the magic gel on the paper. It doesn't turn the color until it hits the special paper. The people that make these toys are really starting to understand mothers. If they get the painting gel anywhere else, it stays clear! How awesome is that? Thanks Meryl.
This is one of Audrey's favorite activities. She loves scooping out as much gel as her little finger will hold, and plopping it on the paper. I'm convinced she thinks that the purpose is to scoop, not to paint. Whatever makes her happy!
Molly, Meme, and Aunt Avery came over later that morning to visit before heading back to Natchitoches.
The girls were loving on Cane,
as well as loving on each other,
and Meme too!
Hayes is adjusting just fine! We've had some help this week from Mama Dot, and had many visitors.
Thank goodness Mama Dot was feeling well, because Audrey kept her on her feet!
Look at all this chalk!
She loved having permission to draw on most things in site, including her hands, arms, and legs.
I did step in to relieve Mama Dot, so she could relax and enjoy Hayes too.
It was such a big help to have an extra set of hands around the house. I was still getting used to having 2 instead of 1! Going grocery shopping was an experience. I'll get used to it soon, there are just things I haven't thought about, like how to fit 2 of them in the grocery cart with the groceries...who needs a lot of food right? At least the grocery is close so we can make daily trips!
Meryl and CC came to visit Audrey and meet Hayes. The girls were oh so excited to be reunited.
Hayes couldn't contain his excitement....and passed out!
Uncle Nic, or Nit as Audrey says, also came in town. Audrey hit him up for all she could while he was here. Aunt Katie found this card with an award, which is stuck to her shirt in this next picture, that says "The Awesome Big Sister Award". Too cute. She was quite proud, as you can tell from her face.
Aunt Katie found lots of outdoor toys for Audrey and Hayes to play with.
So where did we spend the afternoon...outside! Hayes already had his shades on ready to go.
There aren't many times we get a visit from Uncle Nic, so we were quite excited about seeing him. Right now, as Audrey is watching me, she is shouting "Nit Nit".
It finally came time that Daddy Bob was calling Mama Dot home. He was missing his wife and some good home cooking with dessert, always. He drove back to Houston to pick her up and take her home, but not before getting to love on his new great grandson.
As long as Mama Dot has been a grandmother, this has been her name. Audrey decided that this did not fit her perception of her great grandmother. So Nana Dot Dot was born. She kept calling her Nana, which is funny because Marsha is Nana, who she actually calls Mana. I kept saying Dot Dot to Audrey to encourage her. A compromise was born of Nana, and sometimes Dot Dot.
My little crab! He does make lots of frown faces, and he does a low hum when he starts dozing off.
He really is a low key baby. Hayes is the easy one, while Audrey keeps me on my toes. Every time I look away she has gotten into something new. Silence is always the telling sign of trouble. One day I found her in the office with a red sharpie. Along with that sharpie came red cheeks, red tiles, red feet, legs, arms, and hands. Lovely! She found it on the desk and was coloring a pretty picture for mommy! Thank goodness her skin didn't react to fingernail polish remover, and we didn't have to take multiple baths to wash it off.
Audrey is also becoming more vocal about what she wants to do or eat. She loves oatmeal, and likes to help mommy make it and put it in the microwave. One morning, we had already eaten eggs and strawberries, so I told her we were not going to have oatmeal for breakfast. She thought otherwise. She packed up the giant thing of oatmeal in her grocery cart and took off with it. Thank goodness I caught her before she started playing in it!
It's now my favorite part of the day: NAP TIME! YEAH!
